KNIGHTSTOWN, Ind. – Hagerstown’s girls basketball team bounced back after a loss on Friday to post a 54-36 Tri-Eastern Conference victory over Knightstown on Saturday.
“This is a great win for us to go on the road and win,” Hagerstown Head Coach Chris Oliger said. “We didn’t play well (on Friday). We came out a played so much better.”
The Tigers led 14-9 after one period and 28-19 by halftime before putting the game away in the third as they built a 44-23 advantage.
“We’re getting better in every game, every practice,” Oliger said. “There were a lot of teaching moments. Our big focus was back to the basics. Defend and rebound.”
Kassidy Oliger had a a career day with highs of 21 points and 15 rebounds for the Tigers (2-1, 1-0) with Hallie Rogers tossing in 19 points.
“That’s pretty good for two underclassmen,” Chris Oliger said. “I’ll take that any night.”
Camryn Bradway finished with six points and Taylor Kelley added five.
For the Panthers (0-2, 0-2), Kaitlyn Jackson led the way with 13 points, seven rebounds adding an assist and a steal.
“We’re a work in progress that’s going to continue to get better,” Knightstown Head Coach Charity Smucker said. “We’ve got to find a few little fixes.”
Jessica Butler also had 13 points to go with five rebounds. Lori Thomas added four rebounds and three assists. Allyson Hauk had three points.
The Panthers won the JV contest 39-24 as Maggie Smith scored eight points and Sidney Vise had seven. Makayla Matanich led the Tigers with 16 points.
Hagerstown returns to action on Tuesday as the Tigers entertain Tri High in a TEC battle. Knightstown visits Daleville the same night.
