Tigers Win in 8th Inning

HagerstownHAGERSTOWN, Ind. – The Hagerstown baseball team needed eight innings on Tuesday to post a 4-3 victory at Northeastern.

A pair of errors in the bottom of the eighth allowed Hagerstown’s Owen Golliher to score the game-winning run in the Tri-Eastern Conference affair.

Northeastern built a 3-0 after two innings on a RBI single by Bailey Stewart and a two-run single by Mason Fisher.

The Tigers answered to tie the contest at 3-3 in the third, which set the stage for the pivotal last frame.

Golliher led the Tigers with two hits, while Dylan Woolard, Cam Purtha, Mason Hicks and Trent Weiss each had a hit.

For the Knights, Austin Kenworthy led the way with two hits.

Trey Kelly started on the mound for the Tigers and he tossed seven innings with eight strikeouts. Drew Pyle picked up the victory after hurling a scoreless eighth.

Fisher pitched seven innings for the Knights, while Stewart got the loss as he was charged with the unearned run.

Northeastern (7-4, 2-2) entertains Franklin County on Wednesday.

The Tigers (9-3, 5-0) visit Blue River on Thursday.
