RICHMOND, Ind. – Top-ranked Hagerstown survived a 2-0 battle with Tri on Friday as the Tigers advanced in the Class 1A sectional at McBride Stadium.
“Drew Pyle pitched a great game as did Josiah Jackson,” Hagerstown Head Coach Brad Catey said. “We made just enough plays and had a few timely hits to score the runs we needed.”
The Tigers (20-3) advance to play Seton (11-13) on Saturday at 1 p.m.
The Cardinals beat Randolph Southern 6-5 in eight innings on Friday.
Hagerstown scored an unearned run in the third before Owen Golliher knocked in the final tally in the sixth.
Trent Weiss and Cody Wilson led the Tigers with two hits apiece. Kory Beeson added a double.
Pyle worked five innings with 11 strikeouts, while Trey Kelley tossed the final two frames to earn a save.
Jackson went the distance for the Titans (10-15) with seven strikeouts.
Shawn Melton had both of Tri’s hits.
