DUBLIN, Ind. – The Tri girls softball team now has a chance at four in a row.
The Titans defeated host Lincoln 4-1 on Friday to reach the championship game of the Class 1A sectional at Wilson Park.
“I’m proud of the girls,” Tri Head Coach Bryan Peggs said. “They are focused right now. Hopefully, we can keep it going.”
The No. 6 Titans (22-6) meet Randolph Southern (9-18) as they go for their fourth straight sectional crown on Saturday at 1 p.m.
The Rebels beat Seton 9-3 to reach the finale.
“We’ve talked about that,” Peggs said. “This is our time. These girls have been in this situation.”
Payton Moore limited the Golden Eagles to four hits with nine strikeouts.
“Payton Moore had a phenomenal mound performance, kept them off balance,” Peggs said. “Our defensive played really well.”
The Titans were able to change their approach as they prepared for Lincoln.
“The last couple of days in batting practice we worked on choking up and just punching the ball through the infield and getting some hits,” Peggs said. “They bought in and it worked out and we were able to get some big hits.”
Destiny Taylor led the Titans with three hits, while Lauren Bouslog and Kirsten Falck had two hits each.
Madison Siggers knocked in Lincoln’s run with a hit as teammates Emmie Pugh, Karlie Shank and Hannah Hall also had hits.
