FRANKFORT, Ind. – A three-run fifth inning proved to be the difference on Saturday as the Tri softball team advanced to the championship affair in the evening as the sixth-ranked Titans beat No. 2 Frontier 5-2 in the Class 1A Frankfort Semistate in the opening round.
Tri (24-3) faces South Central (20-7) for the title at 7 p.m. The Satellites defeated No. 10 Morgan Township 9-3 in the other semifinal contest.
Payton Moore went the distance to get the win for the Titans against Frontier surrendering three hits with six strikeouts.
Offensively, Moore had two hits, including a homer. Kirsten Falck added a two-run homer of her own to help the cause.
Breanna Reece had two hits with a triple and two RBI. Destiny Taylor had a double.
