Union City Boys Basketball Preview

Union City Head Coach Bruce Davison talks to his players during a pre-season practice.

UNION CITY, Ind. –
Union City Head Coach Bruce Davison enters his first full season in charge of the Indians boys basketball program with 31 total players.

“We’re really excited with the numbers we have,” Davison said. “There’s a lot of interest. We have some length and I like their work ethic and their desire to get better and the level of commitment these young athletes are showing.”

Davison was the head coach for the final six games as the Indians finished 3-18.

“Trevor Thompson, Jacob Fulk and Trevor Spence are some of the key leaders back from last year,” Davison said. “They’ve really done a nice job of helping and not only being leaders, but instilling accountability.”

Spence is the top scorer back at 7.5 points per game, while Thompson averaged 5.6 a contest.

Those three are all seniors and their classmates are Jacob Moore, Gabe Loesch and Dayvon Williams.

The juniors on the roster are Wes Mote, Akili Roberts and Mason Good. Bryten Stewart is a sophomore and Zerrin Cantu is a freshman.

The Indians open the season at South Adams on Wednesday.

“That will be a nice match-up,” Davison said. “It’s a great atmosphere to play in.”

The first Tri-Eastern Conference contest for Union City is at Winchester on Friday, Dec. 8.
