PARKER CITY, Ind. – The Union City boys basketball team had a pair of players in double figures on Thursday night, but it wasn’t enough as the Indians fell 55-48 to the host team in the semifinals of the Randolph County Tournament at Monroe Central.
“I thought Monroe Central did a great job of executing and knocking down shots, while we settled for too much and didn’t get great shots,” Union City Head Coach Dustin Baldwin said.
Tyler Thornhill led the Indians (6-4) with 17 points against the Golden Bears (4-7) and Isaac Davison added 16 points.
Trevor Spence had a team-high seven rebounds for Union City. Bailey Hughes added six rebounds as both players scored five points each.
The Golden Bears led 11-10 after the first quarter and 27-22 at the intermission as the Indians kept it close. Monroe Central widened its margin by the end of the third period before the Indians closed the gap in the final frame.
Union City (6-4) is back in action at home against Monroe Central on Friday, Jan. 15.
