UNION CITY, Ind. – A quick start and a strong finish on Friday provided the Union City boys basketball team with its fourth straight victory as the Indians beat Randolph Southern 58-39.
“We came out really strong,” Union City Head Coach Dustin Baldwin said. “We pushed the ball (offensively) and played pretty good defense.”
Union City led 20-6 at the first stop, but the Rebels cut into the margin by halftime as the Indians were up 29-25 at the intermission.
“We kind of relaxed in the second quarter,” Baldwin said. “We regained it in the third and fourth.”
After Randolph Southern (0-2) got as close as two points early in the third, Union City finished the period in front 40-29 to take control of the contest.
Bailey Hughes led the Indians with 16 points, while Isaac Davison added 13 points, eight rebounds and nine assists.
The Indians (4-0) are on the road at Delta on Tuesday, Dec. 8.
