UNION CITY, Ind. – The Union City girls basketball team got back on track Friday night with a 58-46 win over Monroe Central.
The Class 1A No. 10 Indians jumped out to a 17-10 lead after one period and led 37-20 by the intermission.
Monroe Central (12-6), which snapped Union City’s 11-game winning streak last week, rallied in the third period to close the gap to 48-43.
In the final stanza, the Indians (15-3) were able to put the game away by outscoring the Golden Bears 10-3. It was the second time in the last three contests that the Indians defeated Monroe Central over the last three weeks.
Baylee Hartman led the Indians with 17 points and 18 rebounds, while also handing out four assists to go with a pair of blocked shots.
Madeline Adams and Courtney Wise tossed in 14 points each.
Justiss Cantu contributed six points and five assists.
Union City entertains Ohio rival Mississinawa Valley on Tuesday.
