UNION CITY, Ind. – The Union City girls basketball team had three players in double figures on Tuesday afternoon as the Indians opened their own eight-team tournament with a 55-37 victory over Blue River.
Courtney Wise led the Indians with 14 points against the Vikings (6-7), while Ellie Kerns came off the bench to contribute a dozen points that all came on 3-pointers.
Baylee Hartman tossed in 11 points, grabbed 15 rebounds and blocked four shots.
Wise finished with six rebounds, while Kelsey Zimmers handed out five assists. Justiss Cantu added three steals.
The Indians got off to a quick start with an 11-2 advantage at the end of the first period. By halftime, the Indians had taken control with a 33-9 lead.
Union City (12-2) faces Hauser in the second round on Wednesday morning. Hauser (8-5) defeated Union 61-45 to advance in the winner’s bracket. Check out the full bracket here.
