UNION CITY, Ind. – The Union City girls basketball team needed another comeback on Wednesday.
The Indians (14-2) got it done as they claimed the title in the second annual Union City Invitational with a 34-32 victory over Monroe Central. It was the 11th win a row for the Indians, while they snapped Monroe Central’s six-game winning streak.
Monroe Central (10-4) had a double-digit lead during the contest and Union City trailed at the end of every quarter until the fourth. The Indians held the Bears to just one basket in the final stanza, while scoring nine points to erase a 30-25 deficit after the third quarter.
Courtney Wise led the Indians with 10 points, while Madeline Adams tossed in seven.
Baylee Hartman finished with six points, six rebounds and three blocks for the Indians. Justiss Cantu added six points to go with five assists and five steals.
Next up for Union City is another contest against Monroe Central on the road in the Randolph County Tournament on Friday, Jan. 8.
