UNION CITY, Ind. – The Union City girls basketball team bounced back from a loss at Wapahani last weekend with a 66-51 victory over Ansonia on Tuesday night.
The Indians finished unbeaten at home this season in 12 games and have won 15 straight dating back to last year.
Baylee Hartman, Courtney Wise and Madeline Adams led the Indians with 16 points each against the Tigers (11-7). Hartman added 15 rebounds to finish with a double-double.
Justiss Cantu tossed in 13 points to go with seven assists and six steals. Wise had three blocks and Hartman added a pair of swats.
The Indians led 20-11 after one quarter and by halftime they gained control of the contest with a 39-22 advantage.
Ansonia won the JV game 55-39. Kahlee Dowler had 20 points for the Indians and Aliyah Gutierrez tossed in 10. Kelsie Burton had nine rebounds,
Union City (17-4) travel to Hagertsown on Friday night with a chance to win the Tri-Eastern Concference championship outright for the first time since 2002.
The Indians are 6-0 and have clinched a share with the Tigers in second place at 5-1 in the league.
