CENTERVILLE, Ind. – The Union City girls basketball team took over the top spot in the Tri-Eastern Conference on Wednesday as the Indians defeated Centerville 50-32.
The Indians are 7-2 overall with a 3-0 mark in the conference. Tri is second with a 2-0 mark in the TEC, while falling to 9-2 after Wednesday’s 40-30 loss at Randolph Southern.
Courtney Wise led Union City on Wednesday with 22 points, 11 rebounds and five blocks. Baylee Hartman also grabbed 11 rebounds, while scoring six points.
Justiss Cantu finished with 10 points for the Indians as she added nine assists and eight steals.
For Centerville, Kaylin Smith led the way with 12 points. Merissa Ross tossed in nine points.
Union City jumped out to an early 14-3 advantage after the first period. The Bulldogs cut the deficit to 26-18 by halftime, but the Indians were able to widen the margin in the second half.
The Indians return to action at Randolph Southern on Saturday, Dec. 12.
Centerville (3-8, 1-2) is idle until a visit to Hagerstown on Friday, Dec. 18.
