UNION CITY, Ind. – The Union City girls basketball team won its own invitational on Thursday as the Indians defeated Hauser 55-30.
Tournament Most Valuable Player Courtney Wise led the Indians 25 points. She became the third player in Union City history to reach the 1,000 point plateau.
With 1,018 points, Wise joins Kela Bousman-Neils (1,062) and Shawndrea Montgomery (1,052) in the club. She also broke the single-game record with eight blocks against Hauser as she grabbed seven rebounds.
Kelsey Zimmers scored eight points for the Indians, while Justiss Cantu added seven to go with four assists.
Cantu and Kora Kerns, who had seven rebounds on Thursday, were both named to the all-tournament team.
The Indians (14-2) host the Randolph County Tournament starting Wednesday. The Indians face the winner of Wednesday’s Winchester-Union contest on Friday.
