The Union City softball team the opener at the new field on Monday as the Indians defeated Winchester 7-4 in a Tri-Eastern Conference contest.
The Indians scored four runs in the first inning to take the lead for good.
Kali Miller went the distance pitching and striking out nine while giving up two hits
Madeline Adams had two doubles as she knocked in three runs.
Miller, Tara Heuss, Hannah Lambdin, Kelsey Zimmers, Ellie Kerns and Amber Curry each had multiple hits.
Union City entertains Liberty Christian on Tuesday.
Winchester travels to Adams Central on Wednesday.
