CENTERVILLE, Ind. – Union City’s girls basketball team picked up a Tri-Eastern Conference victory on Wednesday as the Indians defeated Centerville 43-40.
The Bulldogs led 10-7 after the first quarter and they held an 18-17 advantage by halftime.
The Indians battled back to tie the contest at 29-29 by the end of the third.
Mackenzie Green led the Indians with 15 points as they won their second straight game, while Maddy Cox added 10 points.
Ellie Kerns tossed in eight points. Cox topped the Indians with six rebounds with while Kerns, Kahlee Dowler and Mya Carpenter each pulled down five.
Justiss Cantu finished with five points as she had five assists to go with four steals.
For the Bulldogs, Carlie Doolin led the way with 13 points.
Alex McFarland finished with 12 points and Kailee Tedder had eight points.
Union City won the JV contest in overtime.
Jodi Carpenter led Union City with 14 points, 11 rebounds and eight steals. Mya Carpenter added nine points, while Emalee Bocanegra added eight points and eight steals.
Emily Tedder and Lexi Harmon both had nine points for the Bulldogs. Kyla Ray had seven points.
Cenetrville (3-7, 1-3) visits Seton (1-6) on Monday.
The Indians (4-6, 2-2) return to action on Tuesday at No. 7 Winchester (9-1, 3-0).
