LIBERTY, Ind. – Union County Head Boys Basketball Coach Mark Detweiler enters his 15th season with Patriots by welcoming back a pair of players who were honored by the Tri-Eastern Conference.
Senior Dillon Miller is the leading scorer returning. The All-TEC performer scored 12.4 points per game last season and added 4.8 rebounds.
An All-TEC Honorable Mention selection, junior Logan Sanford tossed in 10.5 points per outing.
“We have a lot of experience back in terms of guys that saw a lot of action last year,” Detweiler said.
Seniors Breyden Wicker and Nevada Lakes started some contests a year ago, while their classmates Jamison Walters, Cole Reiboldt and Isaiah Spencer are also on the roster.
“We are excited about our sophomores and what they will provide for us,” Detweiler said. “Preston Scott played significant minutes for us last year as a freshman and Cameron Donovan is a 6’3” forward that will provide scoring and rebounding for us.”
Mason Miller and Luke Haas are both sophomores and also possible contributors, along with junior Haiden Lathery.
“We feel like this is one of our better shooting groups and are excited about our depth,” Detweiler said.
Union County begins the season at Connersville on Wednesday, Nov. 25.
After a pair of home contests against Seton and Knightstown, the Patriots entertain Hagerstown in their conference opener on Friday, Dec. 11.
“We have strengthened our schedule and the first half of our season will really push us to have to play at a high level on both ends of the floor, but this should serve us well down the stretch,” Detweiler said.
