LIBERTY, Ind. – The Union County boys basketball team celebrated Senior Night with a 51-47 victory over Milan on Friday.
“Isaiah Spencer hit an early three in his first varsity start to get us going,” Union County Head Coach Mark Detweiler said. “Nevada Lakes, Jamison Walters, Dillon Miller and Breyden Wicker all played a key role in helping us to our 15th win.”
After trailing 17-15 at the first stop, Union County led 24-22 at the half and increased its margin in the third period.
“We built a 12-point lead in second half and our rebounding effort was key down the stretch,” Detweiler said.
Logan Sanford led the Patriots with 17 points, while Lakes tossed in 10. Mason Miller finished with nine points and Dillon Miller added seven.
Union County won the JV affair 40-38.
The Patriots (15-8) are back in action next Friday in the second round of the Class 2A sectional at Hagerstown. They face the winner of Tuesday’s Northeastern (19-4) and Winchester (14-8) match-up.
