Union County Boys Win at Winchester

WINCHESTER, Ind. – The Union County boys basketball team picked up its first Tri-Eastern Conference victory on Friday as the Patriots defeated No. 21 Winchester 50-34.

“Our zone was active and we kept guys in front of us,” Union County Head Coach Mark Detweiler said.

Union County led 15-10 after one period and increased its margin by halftime to 25-14.

The Falcons cut the deficit to 36-28 by the end of the third quarter, but the Patriots were able to maintain their distance the rest of the way.

“Offensively, we moved the ball and did great job of making the extra pass,” Detweiler said. “We had 18 made field goals and 16 assists.”

Logan Sanford led the Patriots with 17 points as he hit five 3-pointers, while Dillon Miller added 15 points.

Kiante Enis led Winchester with 14 points.

Both teams are back on the court on Tuesday, Dec. 22. Union County (2-3, 1-1) entertains Batesville and Winchester (2-2, 1-1) visits Delta.
