INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Union County’s baseball season ended on Saturday with a 3-1 loss to Heritage Christian in the first round of the Class 2A Park Tudor Regional.
“I’m proud of the boys,” Union County Head Coach Jeff Mathews said. “They battled every step of the way.”
“We knocked on the door,” Mathews continued. “We will be back to kick the door in.”
Preston Scott and Cameron Donovan led the Patriots (23-7) with two hits each.
The Patriots fell behind in the fifth inning as they allowed three unearned runs.
Scott knocked in Union County’s run in the seventh.
Mook Shepler, Nate Webb, Blake Fields and Leighton Schulte all had hits for the Patriots.
Caleb Greene left the mound for the Patriots with one out in the fifth. Mason Miller finished the contest and had four strikeouts
Indianapolis Ritter beat Heritage Christian 5-2 to win the regional title.
