UNION CITY, Ind. – The Union County baseball team picked up a 13-1 victory over Union City in a Tri-Eastern Conference affair on Tuesday.
The Patriots got started early as they scored twice in the first inning on RBI singles by Mook Shepler and Cameron Donovan.
In the second, Union County added three more runs. Preston Scott had a RBI single and later scored on a passed ball, while Shepler had a sacrifice fly.
Union County put the game away in the fourth as the Patriots scored eight times. Caleb Greene got the rally started as he knocked in a pair of runs with a single.
Mason Miller followed with a bases loaded walk and Donovan had a RBI ground out. Justin Witter had a two-run double and he eventually scored on a passed ball. The final run of the contest game on a single by Leighton Schulte.
Greene worked all five innings on the mound for the Patriots surrendering four hits with five strikeouts.
Nic Wells knocked in Union City’s run in the fourth inning with a single.
Zach Bradbury, Cam Luster and Gabe Loesch also had hits for the Indians.
Both teams are in action on Wednesday. The Patriots (10-6, 3-1) travel to Randolph Southern and Union City (6-7, 1-3) entertains Monroe Central.
