WINCHESTER, Ind. – Union County and Lincoln advanced to Saturday’s semifinal round of the Class 2A Winchester Volleyball Sectional with victories on Thursday night.
Union County defeated the host Golden Falcons 25-21, 26-24, 17-25, 25-19, while the Golden Eagles downed Northeastern 25-21, 25-10, 25-19.
Union County (20-12) and Lincoln (17-12) square off on Saturday at 11 a.m. Hagerstown (30-1) and Centerville (18-10) meet at 12:30 p.m. The championship is set for 7 p.m.
Winchester ends the season at 11-15, while Northeastern finishes 9-21.
For the Patriots on Thursday, Madison Rosenberger led the way with 20 kills and three blocks with Emma Townsend finishing with five kills, five aces and nine digs.
Rachel Grissom had 31 assists and three aces. Quinn Stephens added six digs. Rosenberger and Grissom had seven digs apiece.
Brianna Bogue led Winchester with 12 kills and Shelby Miller added 11 kills and seven blocks. Mykah Keener had seven digs.
Morgan Friend finished with 11 digs and six aces as Riley Helms had 23 assists. Alyssa Osbun had 10 digs.
In the second contest, Laynie Russell led Lincoln with 11 kills. Olivia Davis and Emmie Pugh each finished with six kills. Allie Owens added five kills.
Rachel Merida had 22 assists and two aces. Kami Laymon and Hannah Hall both had three aces. Russell and Pugh also added two aces apiece. Russell had 11 digs, Pugh 10 digs and Hall seven digs.
Ava Burns led Northeastern with four aces and three blocks.
Halea Laird finished with three kills and Alexis Middleton had 15 digs.
