RICHMOND, Ind. – Hagerstown Head Girls Basketball Coach Chris Oliger wants more from his team.
“We’re getting better,” Oliger said after Saturday’s 50-38 Hagerstown win over Seton on Schuckman Court in the Athletics and Wellness Center at Earlham College.
Happy with the win, but expecting more.
“That’s what the big (post-game) speech was about,” Oliger said. “Playing (our) game.”
“We play the way the other team plays and we can’t do that,” he continued. “We have to get over that hump.”
Gabby Willis helped the cause for the Tigers against the Cardinals (5-12).
“We looked a little tired, but I thought Gabby Willis played the best game of the year for her,” Oliger said. “Some of those passes were phenomenal. I was happy to see that.”
Hagerstown took an early lead behind Willis who had eight points in the opening period as the Tigers built a 14-8 lead.
The Tigers led 26-16 at the intermission and 40-27 after three before putting the game away in the final stanza.
Megan Schreoder led the Cardinals with 15 points with 11 coming in the second half.
“She’s an amazing athlete,” Oliger said. “She can dictate what they do and I thought she did a great job.”
Brytni Dale scored nine points for the Tigers and grabbed eight rebounds.
Taylor Kelley, who also had eight rebounds, scored seven points.
The Tigers (10-6) face Centerville on Thursday in the Wayne County Tournament at Hagerstown.
