WINCHESTER, Ind. – The Winchester football team grabbed an early lead on Friday and never looked back as the Golden Falcons posted a 62-14 victory over Union City.
Elias Gates led the way for Winchester as he gained 217 yards on the ground and scored four times in the Tri-Eastern Conference contest.
Winchester quarterback Austin Lawrence rushed for 107 yards and a touchdown, while connecting on 3-of-9 passes for 55 yards.
Aaron Beatty added 52 yards rushing with a pair of touchdowns.
Winchester’s other score came on a 60-yard kickoff return by linebacker John Thornburg, who also led the Golden Falcons with 16 tackles.
Beatty, Hunter Younce and Tyler Edwards each had an interception for Winchester.
Union City scored on touchdown runs by Isaac Jefferis and Kayled Leedom in the first half as Winchester built a 46-14 lead.
Next Friday, Winchester (4-2, 3-2) travels to Shenandoah (5-1), while Union City (2-4, 1-3) visits Lincoln (1-5, 1-3).
