WINCHESTER, Ind. – The Winchester girls basketball team finished the regular season on Wednesday with a 62-36 victory over Northeastern.
With the win, the Class 2A No. 6 Golden Falcons also end the year at 8-0 in the Tri-Eastern Conference as they claimed their first title since 2013 when they also finished unbeaten in league play.
The Golden Falcons led 17-5 after the first period. They widened their margin to 30-15 at the half and 44-27 after three.
Maddie Lawrence led Winchester with 20 points and 11 rebounds.
Hannah Graft finished with 17 points.
Kira Robinson added eight points to go with six rebounds and six blocks.
Shelby Miller had six points, six rebounds and three blocks.
For Northeastern, Olivia Harris led the way with 12 points.
Madi Clay tossed in 10 points as Kasey Andrews contributed in seven.
Winchester won the JV contest 46-35 as Ara Cowper and Brooklynn Hummel led the way with 12 points each. Cami Miller added 10.
Aunika Railsback led the Knights with a game-high 14 points. Willow Runyon had seven.
Northeastern (9-12, 3-4) ends its regular season slate at home on Friday against Lincoln (10-10, 3-4).
Winchester faces Centerville (5-15, 1-6) in the first game of Northeastern Sectional on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
