PARKER CITY, Ind. – The Winchester Girls basketball team had a pair of players in double figures on Wednesday as the Falcons moved on to the semifinals of the Randolph County Tournament at Monroe Central.
Kelly Graft scored a career-high 14 points to help the Falcons post a 44-39 win over Randolph Southern (9-6).
The Falcons (8-9) advance to play Union (10-3) on Friday in the next round of the annual event. Union City (14-2) and Monroe Central (11-4) meet in the other semifinal. The title affair is on Saturday.
The Rebels started the contest with an 8-1 advantage before the Falcons closed the gap to 14-13 by the end of the first frame.
Randolph Southern led 24-23 at the intermission and 34-33 at the third stop.
The final stanza proved to be the difference for the Falcons who had an 11-5 edge to earn the victory.
Mariah Roberts scored 13 points for Winchester. Roberts and Graft both added three steals each.
Liz Pegg tossed in nine points with seven rebounds. Becca Neville finished with four points and seven rebounds.
