WINCHESTER, Ind. – The Winchester boys basketball team used a big first quarter on Wednesday night on its way to a 70-42 victory over Muncie Burris.

“We played the most complete game we have played all year,” Winchester Head Coach Matt Fine said.

“We didn’t rebound like we needed to, but we did a great job of being aggressive on both ends of the floor.”

The Falcons built a 23-10 advantage in first quarter and then finished the opening half with a 45-16 lead.

Arick Miller topped the Falcons with 19 points, eight rebounds with five blocked shots.

Michael Georgi added 13 points and four steals. Austin Lawrence contributed 11 points and six rebounds, while Elias Gates scored all eight of his points in the opening period.

The Falcons also won the JV contest 62-29 with three players in double figures as Jordan Key led the way with 13 points. Lukas Mills tossed in 11 points and Justin McAllister finished with 10.

Winchester (7-5) returns to action on Saturday as the Falcons welcome Ohio school Tri-Village (13-1) to the fieldhouse.
